The next international signing period doesn't begin until January, but the Blue Jays appear to have already reached their first agreement.
According to Francys Romero, an MLB insider who specializes in Cuban and Latin American players, the Blue Jays are set sign 21 year old pitcher Yoenis Morales once the new international signing period begins on January 15, 2026.
Romero made the announcement on his FaceBook page.
After several years of sacrifice, Cuban right pitcher Yoenis Morales 🇨🇺 will sign with Toronto Blue Jays, once the upcoming international period begins this January 15, 2026.
Morales, 21, rides 92-95 MPH in his straight with chances to advance in the MLB system.
✅ He was born in Camagüey and nephew of Omar Luis Martinez, a great pitcher of the 90s in Cuba, leader in strikes in 1994-95 of the National Series and Olympic Champion in Atlanta 96 where he won 3 games.
✍️ Great opportunity for Yoenis. 🔥

According to Romero, Morales is an up-and-coming pitcher with a powerful fastball, which currently sits between 92-95 mph. With some seasoning, it could easily reach 98.
Morales comes from Camangüey, the third-largest city in Cuba.
Baseball is rich in his family. His uncle is Omar Luis Martinez, a Cuban baseball star, who was the leader in strikeouts during the 1994-1995 National Series and also helped lead his nation to an Olympic gold medal in 1996 in Atlanta.
Blue Jays have a history of stocking up on young pitchers
While the Blue Jays signed plenty of infielders during last year's international signing period, they also stacked their system with several young pitchers.
Morales only adds to that tradition and at 21, he could be closer to the major leagues than the bulk of other international prospects.
His story and development will be an interesting one to watch.
