Daulton Varsho's tumble to turf makes list of best baseball bloopers of 2025

Playing centre field for the Toronto Blue Jays in his first game back off the injured list, Varsho's tumbling catch, which was previously named as a top ten catch of the year for 2025, has now also been listed amongst the best bloopers of the season.

In his article detailing the 13 best bloopers for 2025, MLB.com contributor Michael Clair lists Varsho's tumble to the turf at number six.

Varsho was chasing a fly ball off the bat of the Boston Red Sox's Jarren Duran when he lost his footing and crashed to the warning track in centre field in a late April contest at Rogers Centre.

Because he had fallen down, everyone in the building assumed that Duran we get at least two bases, if not more. But something remarkable happened. With his body facing towards the centre field and the ball in the air somewhere behind him, Varsho took a quick peek and stuck out his glove.

The ball landed inside stunning the crowd and the announcers for team into a sheepish silence and giving Blue Jays fans a play that will live forever.

The 2nd half of that play landed on the list of best catches. It's the first half that finds itself on the blooper list.

Having the same play make two separate lists feels distinctly Daulton Varsho and is part of what makes him so much fun to watch as a viewer.

Although, we could all do without the tumble.
