The Toronto Blue Jays look to close things out in game 4 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees in the Bronx zoo on Wednesday.

It looked like the Blue Jays were going to punch their ticket to the American League Championship Series on Tuesday night as they led 6-1 through the opening two-and-a-half innings.
But Toronto was held scoreless for the rest of the game, and with New York scoring eight runs over the next four innings, the series was suddenly back on.
The Yankees have their backs against the wall again, already facing another win-or-go-home situation.

Starting Pitchers Overview

Louis Varland, who the Blue Jays acquired at the Trade Deadline from the Twins, will start a bullpen game with another chance to clinch the ALDS on Wednesday.
The 27-year old right-hander has pitched in all three games of this ALDS and was tagged with the loss in Game 3 after surrendering a three-run homer to Aaron Judge in the fourth inning.
«Ready for anything,» Varland said postgame. «It's all hands on deck.»

Yankees rookie Cam Schlittler is on the bump tonight against the Blue Jays.
Last Thursday, facing elimination in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series against the Red Sox, the Yankees handed the ball to Schlittler.
The stage was not too bright: Schlittler blanked Boston across eight scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts and no walks.
He's the first pitcher in postseason history with that statline. His 12 strikeouts are the most by a Yankees pitcher in his playoff debut, breaking Dave Righetti's 44-year record.
In fact, no pitcher has ever recorded more strikeouts in a winner-take-all postseason game.
However, that was against the Red Sox, tonight he faces a much better lineup in the Blue Jays.
It was against the Blue Jays, at Yankee Stadium, that Schlittler endured the worst start of his young career.
It happened on Sept. 5 in his 10th career outing. His stuff was crisp. He made good pitches.
But the Blue Jays, the toughest team to strike out in the majors this season, were seemingly on everything. He threw 66 pitches over just 1⅔ innings. Of the 66, 24 were fouled off.
"I have confidence in myself," Schlittler said. "I have confidence in this team."

First pitch is at 7:08 PM ET on Sportsnet and FS1.

Blue Jays bullpen

Four Toronto relievers didn't pitch in Game 3. Jeff Hoffman, Seranthony Dominguez, Eric Lauer and Justin Bruihl.
But, Schneider said, everyone will be available. Lauer, likely, can fill bulk innings on Wednesday.
Kevin Gausman, who is slated to throw a bullpen session, could potentially factor in.
Toronto's bullpen, like most, fluctuated all season. It dragged down the team in August but finished with a 2.53 ERA in September, if you remove catcher Tyler Heineman's 10-run mop-up appearance in Kansas City.
That ERA would've been best in baseball in the final month.
On Wednesday, they'll need that September version back. Schneider will hand the ball from reliever to reliever hoping to tight-walk to a road clinch.
