The Blue Jays number 2 prospect finally made his professional debut, pitching in his first game since being selected 20th overall in the 2024 MLB Draft.
He definitely brough the heat. After taking an inning to breathe and soak it up all up, Yesavage mowed down Twins hitter in his second inning of work. Using a good selection of pitches, he struck out the side in order to give himself two scoreless innings to start his professional career.
The development was certainly a positive for Yesavage, who touched nearly 97mph on the radar gun.
Having spent the eight months since he was drafted at the player development complex in Florida, the young Blue Jays right hander has worked on making his delivery more fluid.
It's definitely been long, slow and methodical. Every detail has been accounted for. It's amazing to finally be out there pitching in a Blue Jays uniform.
Although he has yet to in the minor leagues, Yesavage has a high enough ceiling that he could wind up in Double-A New Hampshire by the end of 2025. If all goes well, that puts him in line for a potential MLB debut in either late 2026 or early 2027.
With several pitching contracts coming off the books in the coming years, theBlue Jays need to develop a strong pitching influx. While Yesavage is just one guy, he is the Blue Jays best shot at home grown pitching talent.
