The Blue Jays are still stalling when it comes to
Bichette as they have yet to engage in any kind of contract extension talk but also seem to have no plan on trading him before the trade deadline.
The Yankees are looking to poach Bo Bichette from the Blue Jays
Former MLB manager Jim Bowden made some interesting comments the other day regarding Bichette as he believes that the Yankees and a perfect fit for Bichette if he is willing to switch to third base.
On Wednesday, Jim Bowden of The Athletic named the Yankees as a top projected suitor for Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette, who grades out as a subpar defender at his position and could be headed for third base in the future. -Roberts
"Bichette might have to be willing to move to third base for certain interested teams like the Tigers, Yankees or Dodgers, but he should have a strong market if he plays at his accustomed level this season.". -Bowden
The Blue Jays will never trade Bichette to the Yankees since they are divisional rivals but they will certainly need to figure out their plan going forward with the deadline approaching.
If the Blue Jays decide to keep Bichette after the deadline but do not end up signing him to a contract extension, there is a chance he ends up in New York since they will probably make him a massive offer in free agency.
Not signing Bichette to a contract extension but also not trading him at the trade deadline makes no sense for Toronto since they will end up losing one of their best players and getting absolutely nothing in return.
