Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Jamie Campbell and catcher Tyler Heineman share their thoughts on the upcoming 2026 season at Swift Current WCBL dinner.

The Western Canadian Baseball League’s Swift Current 57s, in partnership with Swift Current Minor Ball, will host their annual Field of Dreams Dinner on Saturday, February 7.
The sold-out event will feature Sportsnet’s Blue Jays Central host Jamie Campbell alongside Toronto Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman.
The Swift Current 57’s, along with Swift Current Minor Ball, are excited to bring to you a fun evening out with Tyler Heineman of the Toronto Blue Jays and Jamie Campbell of Sportsnet on February 7th, 2026!
Campbell, a longtime advocate for grassroots baseball and a strong supporter of the WCBL, says he’s thrilled to finally make the trip to Swift Current.
“I’ve watched the 57s play twice, but they were always on the road,” Campbell said during a phone interview with Magic 97’s Colin Powers. “I’ve wanted to get to Swift Current for a long time.”

He praised the WCBL for its role in developing Canadian baseball talent, noting that the league provides players with valuable summer opportunities while showcasing athletes from across the country.

Looking ahead to the Blue Jays’ 2026 season, Campbell shared optimism about the team’s outlook

Campbell describes the evening as equal parts conversation, celebration, and reflection—especially for Blue Jays fans still coming to terms with last season’s dramatic seven-game World Series defeat.
“I want it to be a lively, open discussion,” he said, encouraging fans to take part in the question-and-answer session with Heineman.

The dinner offers a rare chance for fans to engage directly with an active Major League player, something Campbell says players like Heineman truly appreciate.
“Players understand they’re representing more than just Toronto,” Campbell explained. “They’re representing Canada as a whole.”

He highlighted key free-agent additions such as Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto, along with the organization’s long-term commitment to stars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
While some fans remain disappointed over the loss of shortstop Bo Bichette, Campbell believes the Blue Jays have assembled a strong and competitive roster heading into spring training.
“You never know how a season will unfold,” he said, “but they’ve done an excellent job strengthening the team.”

The Field of Dreams Dinner takes place Saturday at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
