The Toronto Blue Jays could get a key player back in time for a potential World Series.
On Saturday, Blue Jays insider
Arden Zwelling reported that
Bo Bichette had increased the volume of his running, and could attempt to jog around the bases very soon.
Bo Bichette (left PCL sprain) has increased running volume on field but hasn't run the bases yet, per Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
It's possible Bichette attempts running the bases on Saturday. Schneider says Bichette's «definitely making progress with his swing, as well.»
According to Zwelling, manager John Schneider also indicated that Bichette had significantly improved his swing as well.
Even if Bichette couldn't play the field every game, with
Anthony Santander now
done for the year, the Blue Jays would be more comfortable using Bo as a DH, although this necessitate shifting
George Springer back into the outfield, which he hasn't played a lot of this season.
Still, Toronto has a lot positional flexibility to work with.
Jays need to win first, no decision on Bichette has been made
Given Bo's status as a free agent at the end of the season, and with seemingly few updates on contract negotiations, Blue Jays fans would love to see the All-Star shortstop take the field again, it whatever capacity that may be.
Of course, they Blue Jays have to win the next two games first before that dream can become a reality.
While both sides remain interested in a reunion, no deal has been made.
