The Toronto Blue Jays are feeling confident.
Despite the late-inning loss to the Seattle Mariners in Game 5 on Friday, the Blue Jays and John Schneider feel good about where they are and how they've been playing as the series heads back to the Rogers Centre.
While many questions focused on the health of George Springer, and starting Trey Yesavage in game 6, inevitably Schneider was also asked about his decision to use Brendon Little in the 8th inning. He has remained steadfast amongst a barrage of criticism.
«I trust my players, I trust my players. And in hindsight, I had a couple of other options to do. That's what I decided to do. Players have to go perform. There is always risk when you put a player in a situation that he won't get the job done; that's part of the game. That's where I'm at with it. So, it sucks, we still took two out of three there. We got the series back here.»
Many of the Jays echoed Schneider's thoughts, saying they did what they had to do by winning two out of three in Seattle to bring the series back to Toronto.
Schneider gives thoughts on Springer, Yesavage
With the Blue Jays facing elimination for the first time this postseason, Schneider has stated that everyone who is physically able, including veteran max scherzer would be available out of the pen.
John Schneider says everyone will be available in Game 6, Max Scherzer included.
«We're trying to win one game in a row. We've done that 99 times this year.» #BlueJays

He also offered an update on George Springer saying that the Blue Jays leadoff is feeling a lot better and is optimistic he'll be ready to go for game 6.
As for Yesavage, Schneider says he's not putting pressure on the rookie, who just needs to stay confident.
I don't wanna put all of the pressure on Trey. He's the starting pitcher, we're gonna have nine guys in the lineup that gotta do their job, and guys that gotta do their job on defence too.
With so much on the line, everything and everyone will be available.
