The Toronto Blue Jays have made their first trade of the 2025 Major League Baseball season. In a minor deal with the Chicago White Sox, the Blue Jays acquired infielder Edrick Felix from the South siders.

No word yet on what the official return was but it appears to be a player-for-cash deal.
Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Felix was a 14th round pick by the White Sox out of Florida Gulf University in 2023. He has the spent the years since the draft bouncing back and forth between Rookie Ball and single-A.
Felix is a perfect depth move for the Blue Jays he has the ability to multiple positions. Throughout the minors, as well as his time in foreign developmental leagues, Felix has logged 109 appearances at second base, 86 at third, and 24 at shortstop. He also has a game in left field.
During his time in the White Sox organization he played mostly third base.
While Felix is not a high-average or power hitter, he does have an ability to get on base, having a career .357 OBP throughout his two seasons in the minor leagues. While his overall average is on the lower side for a middle infielder, he has shown some pop, with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 89 career minor league games.
At 23, Felix will be slightly older than his Florida Coast League teammates and competitors in Rookie Ball, but the Blue Jays want to know what they have before moving him through the system. That being said, he should end up in Dunedin - and possibly Vancouver - by the end of the minor league season.
