Blue Jays Springer has been MLB's best hitter this season

For two years, George Springer was struck in a hitting dry spell.
But, if the start of this year is any indication, it seems like Springer's finally gotten his groove back.
So far, Springer has looked anything but a washed-up asset. In fact, through 12 games, he hasn't just been adequate, but the hottest hitter in the entire MLB.
Springer, who has played in all of the Blue Jays' 12 games to date, is hitting a scorching .459 with two home runs and nine RBIs in just 37 at bats.
His batting average leads the MLB by a wide margin, with Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu sitting second at .412.
Meanwhile, his nine RBIs are just outside the top 20 batters throughout the league.
His best performance this season came on Monday when he recorded four hits (and gathered three RBI) in the Blue Jays' 6-2 win over the Boston Red Sox.
A day later, he also belted his second home run of the season in another Blue Jays win.
The question now is whether or not Springer can continue to be a primary source of offence for the Blue Jays.
While his batting average is certain to come down, this team needs him to continue being a good hitter in order to have success.
That was far from the case in 2024, as he posted a disappointing .220 batting average with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs through 145 games.
One of the big reasons why Springer could be hitting better this year is his new role in the lineup. He's moved out of the leadoff spot (he's mostly hit fifth or sixth in the lineup this year) and seems to be relishing in this new role.
It seems like Springer worked hard to make adjustments at the plate, and it seems to be paying off. The return of his power-hitting form has been fun to watch.
Springer's bat isn't the only reason the Blue Jays have jumped out to an AL-East best 7-5 record, either.
Bo Bichette appears in line for a bounce-back season with a .313 average, while trade acquisition Andrés Giménez has already belted three home runs.
Though it's early, there are plenty of positives early in the 2025 season for the Blue Jays that suggest they could be a playoff team after all.
Leading the way is Springer, who is quickly proving that last season's struggles were nothing more than a blip on the radar.
