The coveted leverage reliever with the submarine delivery and lowest release point in the majors will now help anchor the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen.

The Blue Jays moved quickly in December to shore up their bullpen, signing Tyler Rogers after losing Seranthony Dominguez to free agency.
Dominguez officially landed with the Chicago White Sox yesterday on a two-year deal.
Rogers arrives in Toronto with a long track record of effectiveness. In 2021, he posted a stellar 2.22 ERA and 3.28 FIP across 81 innings.
His ERA climbed to 3.57 in 2022, his highest mark over the past five seasons, but even then, his underlying numbers remained steady with a 3.44 FIP.
He rebounded in 2023 with a 3.04 ERA and 3.76 FIP over 74 innings, then followed that up with a 2.82 ERA and 3.56 FIP in 70.1 innings during the 2024 campaign.
The 2025 season marked a new chapter in Rogers' career. For the first time, he pitched outside the San Francisco Giants organization after being dealt to the New York Mets ahead of the trade deadline.
The change of scenery did nothing to slow him down. Across the full season, Rogers logged a dominant 1.98 ERA and 2.88 FIP in 77.1 innings.
Tyler Rogers (signed by TOR) is one-of-a-kind pitcher. He provides an extremely distinct look on the mound thanks to his submarine delivery He posted an excellent 1.98 ERA and 2.88 FIP in 77.1 innings in 2025 due to his ability to induce a ton of weak contact. This is a big get!

Rogers joins a bullpen of young hungry relievers looking to impress in 2026

Among all relievers who threw at least 50 innings in 2025, Rogers' 1.98 ERA ranked eighth in Major League Baseball.
Expanding the sample to pitchers with 30 or more relief innings, Rogers joins Braydon Fisher, Eric Lauer, and Tommy Nance as the only Blue Jays relievers to post an ERA under 2.00.
Rogers' success doesn't come from overpowering hitters. Strikeouts have never been his calling card, with a career-best strikeout rate of just 19.4% and a career average of 17.6%. Instead, he thrives by keeping the ball on the ground and limiting free passes.

Last season, Rogers produced a groundball rate of 62.1%, one of the best marks in the league.
He accomplished that while generating very few whiffs and relying on a fastball that averages just 83.5 mph.
«I just really care about process-metric things-first-pitch strikes, two-out-of-three strikes,» Rogers said when describing his approach. «I try to live in that area. I try to literally live in the strike zone, as simple and dumb as that sounds. If I try to get outside of that, I'm not very successful.»

No matter the spot, the Blue Jays will be able to trust him to throw strikes and make the at-bat miserable for hitters trying to deal with his bizarro-world movement profile.
