Even though he isn't fully healthy, Bo Bichette is making one thing clear. He is unlikely to need knee surgery this offseason.
While he missed the first two rounds of the playoffs, he returned in time for the
Blue Jays first World Series appearance in 32 years - playing second base - though still dealing with the effects of a strained PCL.
In a press conference before Game 6, he addressed the injury saying he feels it is healing nicely and that is unlikely to have or need surgery this upcoming offseason.
Bo Bichette says he's not anticipating needing off-season surgery on his knee
This is good news for then just Bichette and the Blue Jays. The 2X All-Star is set to become a
free agent for the first time in his career following the conclusion of the World Series and will likely have plenty of suitors.
While there if obvious mutual interest in reunion for Toronto and Bo, other teams are bound to make stronger pushes knowing that he won't be sidelined to begin 2026.
At the time, Bichette that acknowledges playing through an injury means that it will take longer to heal and doesn't expect any huge progress on it in the immediate aftermath of Game 7.
Playing for a championship came first
If this was the regular season, Bichette would 100% still be sidelined. However, the Blue Jays are playing for their first championship in 32 years and Bo wasn't about to miss out.
Bo Bichette was just asked if he'd thought about tonight potentially being his last Blue Jays game:
«I'd be lying if I hadn't thought about that at some point in the season, but I've got a World Series to win.»
In regards to his impending free agency, he demurred, simply stating "we have a World Series to win"
