The Chicago White Sox have signed former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Reese McGuire to a one-year major league contract.

The White Sox officially announced the signing, confirming McGuire's contract is worth $1.2 million.
ESPN's Jesse Rogers first reported the agreement prior to the announcement.
The White Sox are signing C Reese McGuire, sources tell ESPN. He opted out of Brewers camp recently after spending time with the Cubs last season. He hit 9 home runs in 133 AB's for them. McGuire spent time with the W-Sox back '22 as they bring in a C while Teel is on the mend.

No corresponding roster move was necessary, as Chicago already had an open spot on its 40-man roster. McGuire is represented by Apex Baseball.
The move comes shortly after McGuire opted out of a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, giving him a 72-hour window to find a new opportunity.
He didn't need much time, landing a deal within a day and returning to familiar territory.
McGuire previously appeared in 53 games for the White Sox in 2022 and also spent time across town with the Chicago Cubs in 2025.

Now back with Chicago's South Siders, McGuire is expected to provide steady defense behind the plate.
