MLB.com has just released their odds for winning the World Series, and the Toronto Blue Jays are right about where you'd expect them to be.
While having the Dodgers at number one - the defending champions have 16.6% odds - having New York at number two feels like a bit of an overhype, even if they are the Yankees.
Right now, the biggest thing standing in the way of a Blue Jays World Series is an uneven, inconsistent bullpen.
While it's been better as of late, the bullpen has a league-worst 5.60 ERA since the All-Star break. If the Blue Jays have World Series aspirations, that needs to change.
There is also uncertainty surrounding the health of Bo Bichette.
The all-star shortstop was recently placed on the IL with a knee issue. While the Jays are hopeful he will return for the end of the season, there needs to be a Plan B.
The Blue Jays would be best served by winning the AL East and bypassing the Wild Card round - which has not been kind to them.
There are still two weeks of games left to play. With so many close races, anything can - and will happen.
If the Blue Jays can keep on hitting and if the bullpen can get it together, then the Blue Jays could be in for a magical run. If not, it might be another early exit.
