This will be Brantly's second stint with the Marlins. He made his major league with the club in 2012 after being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2010 draft. He has bounced around as a back-up catcher for most of his career, suiting up with the White Sox, Phillies, Giants, Yankees, and Rays.
Despite his experience, Brantly only has 138 games under his belt and has never played more than 67 in a season. Still, he'll be a valuable glove-first option for the Marlins.
For his career, Brantly has a slash line of .222/.284/.322 with seven home runs, 37 RBI and a -1.5 WAR.
