So much of being a major league baseball is luck. Just ask Foster Griffin.
The former first round draft pick is attempting a comeback in the major leagues after spending the last three years of his professional career in Japan.
After three impressive seasons in Japan, former #Royals first-rounder Foster Griffin aims to return to MLB as an intriguing free agent rotation option:
Griffin was a first round pick of the Royals all the way back in 2014. After several years in the minor leagues, he finally made his nig league debut in 2020, appearing in a single major league game during the COVID-shortened season. After not playing at all in 2021, he returned to the Royals for another five games in 2022.
He joined the Blue Jays after designated for assignment vy Kansas City. While he only got into one big league game with Toronto, he pitched well for Buffalo, garnering a 4-0 record with a 1.93 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched.
Surprisingly however, he was DFA'd at the end of the sesaon.
Coming of All-Star season in Japan
Griffin is coming off an All-Star season in the NPB. In three total seasons with the Yomiuri Giants, Griffin is 18-16 with a 2.47 ERA and 318 strikeouts.
Due to his success, many major league teams started to take notice. With his Giants contract now complete, he should have no issue finding a new major league home.
