The Los Angeles Angels announced that relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A. Given his service time, Edwards can still reject the assignment and elect free agency.

The journeyman reliever signed a minor league with the Angels this spring and was summoned to the majors lat last week. He made two relief appearances and tallied three innings, during which he yielded three runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
He's had some success in the minors this year, having thrown 11 2/3 innings in Triple-A Salt Lake already, allowing only two runs on 14 hits with a 25% strikeout rate and 5.8% walk rate.
At one point in his career, Edwards was a highly-touted prospect who eventually worked his up to be set-up man for the Chicago Cubs. Over the course of three seasons with the North Siders, Edward pitched to 3.03 ERA over 154 1/3 innings with 54 holds and a pair of saves.
However, he has struggled to maintain consistency since then, appearing for seven different teams, including a brief stint with the Blue Jays in 2021.
Even if chooses to reject the outright assignment and elect free agency, it is possible that Edwards re-ups with the Angels. LA's bullpen has been a disaster this year; their 4.75 ERA ranking 26th in all of baseball.
Closer Kenley Jansen is the only established reliever, while several others, including Ben Joyce, are currently battling injuries. Edwards could at the very least provide depth.
During his six game stint with the Blue Jays, Edwards had 6.05 ERA in 5.1 innings pitched.
