Zimmer, 33, was the 21st overall pick out of the University of San Francisco back in 2014.
He was a top-100 prospect during his time in Cleveland's farm system, but his bat simply hasn't translated against Major League pitching.
OF Bradley Zimmer has retired from professional baseball.
Zimmer split 2022 between three organizations
The Blue Jays non-tendered Zimmer back in 2022. He got into 109 games between Toronto and Philadelphia but only picked up 117 plate appearances.
He was a solid defensive outfielder but has always been very strikeout-prone in the big leagues. That included a 38.5% strikeout rate that season, which featured just a .124/.207/.229 overall mark.
Zimmer's tenure with the Blue Jays was interesting, to say the least. The majority of his games weren't starts, but defensive replacements or in a pinch runner situation.
Come for Bradley Zimmer's bomb, stay for Vladdy's reaction. 😂
Zimmer was a member of three different organizations in 2022, as he was traded from the Guardians to the Jays in April, and then claimed off waivers by the Phillies in August.
Toronto claimed Zimmer back just over a week later, and Zimmer finished the season in a Blue Jays uniform.
I just learned that 2022 National League Champion Bradley Zimmer has retired from professional baseball. It was a hell of ride!
Zimmer played for the Guardians, Blue Jays, Phillies, Dodgers, Red Sox and Rockies across seven seasons in the major leagues.
