Game recap: Tempers flare against Mariners

The Toronto Blue Jays fell to the Seattle Mariners 8-4 in a Saturday afternoon matchup at Rogers Centre that went into extra innings and a game that also featured a visit from Lord Stanley's cup.
Jose Berios got the start for the Blue Jays. It was a mixed bag for Toronto's opening day starter, who kept his team in it with six innings and three run ball, but he walked four and gave a two run home run. Homers have been a problem for Berrios all year.
Tempers flared briefly in the 4th inning. Berrios started an exchange with Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, accusing the latter of relaying signals to the dugout from second base. As it happened on the field, it is legal, but nevertheless wasn't pleased.
The benches emptied, albeit in a somewhat calm and casual manner, and both dugouts were issued warnings, but nothing further arose.
Another scary moment happened when Alan Roden ran into Rowdy Tellez on a ground ball to first base, but ultimately stayed in the game.
The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the first thanks to a double by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and an RBI single by
Anthony Santanderr. After Cal Raleigh double put the Mariners ahead, Alejandro Kirk tied things up with an RBI single of his own.
Bo Bichette then singled to give the Blue Jays the lead, before Mariners rookie Ben Williamson hit his first major league home run to tie it. Bo also made a great pick to start a double play to end a bases-loaded threat in the 10th.
Jacob Barnes couldn't find the strike zone and gave up five runs in the 12th, including a grand slam to Rowdy Tellez. Toronto got one back but couldn't muster anything else against Casey Lawrence.
The Blue Jays and Mariners wrap up their series tomorrow. Easton Lucas will be opposed by Luis M. Castillo. First pitch is scheduled for 1:37PM ET
