Is you asked John Schneider about where he thought he'd be, I'm not sure he would've imagined this.
John Schneider will catch Cito Gaston's first pitch tonight:
«Hopefully he doesn't short hop me»
«To be mentioned in the same sentence as Cito is so humbling to me.»
Earlier, it was announced that former manager and Blue Jays legend
Cito Gaston would be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Now, fans know who will be catching it: the current Blue Jays skipper.
First pitches in Toronto from a pair of legendary Blue Jays:
Game 1: Cito Gaston (r), manager of the 1992-93 world champs
Game 2: Joe Carter (l), two-time champ and 1993 Game 6 hero
Schneider now joins Gaston as the only managers to lead Toronto to the World Series.
The first pitch won't be the first time their paths have crossed either.
Schneider, Gaston have met casually over the years
Schneider, who said he plans to soak up as much pre-game action as possible, has run into Cito casually over the years, particularly on the golf course.
Schneider also says that Gaston has been super supportive of the job that he is doing.
I've known him throughout the years and he's always quietly filed a text to me, fired a text
Schneider said he will make a point of seeing the Blue Jays' winningest manager on the field before game time.
Hopefully the pitch will be a strike.
