The Toronto Blue Jays look for the series win over the Baltimore Orioles in the second matchup of a three-game set at Rogers Centre.

The Orioles came to town with an 8-1 record in September and the Jays cooled them in the first meeting with a 6-1 victory and improved to 48-25 at the Rogers Centre.
With the win, the Blue Jays (85-62) still hold the American League's best record this season, pulling a full game ahead of the Detroit Tigers.
The Jays remain three games ahead of the New York Yankees in the AL East.
Blue Jays veteran Max Scherzer is on the bump versus Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano. First pitch is at 3:07 PM ET on Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

Toronto Blue Jays starting lineup

1. DH George Springer
2. RF Nathan Lukes
3. 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr
4. 3B Addison Barger
5. LF Davis Schneider
6. CF Daulton Varsho
7. 2B Ernie Clement

SP Max Scherzer

Starting pitchers overview

In his last outing Scherzer (5-3) yielded four runs on three hits and four walks over 4.1 innings, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Yankees.
Scherzer coughed up a three-run homer to Ben Rice in the first inning and an RBI double to Cody Bellinger in the third.
It was Scherzer's second straight outing of fewer than five innings pitched, though the eight punchouts were his most since fanning 11 Tigers on July 27.
He posted a streak of five consecutive quality starts but has since allowed 12 runs in 14.1 innings, raising his season ERA from 3.60 to 4.36 in the process.
During his most recent start in this past Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers, Tomoyuki Sugano was forced out in the top of the fourth inning after being struck on the right foot by a comebacker.
Fortunately for the Orioles, the right-hander avoided any fractures on his foot and didn't experience extensive swelling either, putting him on track to make today's start versus the Blue Jays on his usual five days' rest.
Since the All-Star break, Sugano has gone 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 37:13 K:BB in 44.1 innings over his nine starts.
