The first episode of the new show was released on Wednesday morning and focused heavily on the two seasons Merrifield spent with the Blue Jays.
While the 36-year-old shared many thoughts, including how he believed the 2023 Blue Jays roster was going to win the World Series, he also shared some hilarious moments, including one about starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi flooding a hotel during a road trip.
Merrifield explained that when on the road in Kansas City, he and his wife noticed water pouring down into their hotel room.
They called the front desk, and a hotel employee later explained that "this little Asian guy" came to the door apologizing. As it turns out, it was Kikuchi.
"He said that he went to run a bath, and he went to meditate and fell asleep," Merrifield said. "When he woke up, his room was under water. He heard banging on the door, it woke him up. He went to turn the water off and slipped, fell on the tub as he was going to turn it off. Finally got the water off, went to the door, said he was sorry. He paid for the damages and whatever."
Merrifield had mentioned prior to bringing this story up that Kikuchi was one of his favourite teammates throughout his nine-year MLB career, and with stories like this, you can certainly understand why.
Blue Jays fans should expect to hear plenty more funny stories like this from Merrifield on his new podcast moving forward.
