It would appear that Canadians aren't just jumping on the Toronto Blue Jays bandwagon because they've been there all along.
The survey did show one interesting result however: Blue Jays fans are among the oldest in professional sports.
The average age of the current Blue Jays is roughly 51 year old; so while Toronto has had a large, loyal fanbase for many years, it would appear that the younger generation isn't as beholden to Canada's team.
To the fans who have been here ALL YEAR. We thank you, we appreciate you, we celebrate with you.
Vividata's study looks at more than 50,000 Canadians each year, across dozens of leagues. It found that Jays Nation is roughly 6.3 million strong. What's more, over 40% of Blue Jays fans live outside of Ontario.
Blue Jays fans have some of the highest engagement rate in professional baseball
Jays Nation isn't just made up of casual fans either. Vividata's survey noted that over 75% of Blue Jays fans follow roughly half the games each season, making them one of the most engaged fandoms in the MLB.
Vividata President Pat Pellegrini says that there is a certain nostalgia for the average Toronto baseball fan.
They follow the team game after game, they support the stars, and they are ready for another October. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Now it's up to the the Jays to bring one home for their most loyal fans.
