Though he is credited with revitalizing George Springer's career, Blue Jays hitting coach David Popkins was quick to deflect praise onto the outfielder/DH.
Popkins, who was hired prior to the 2025 season has received heaps of praise online for turning around the 36 year-old's career, after a down year last year.
However, Popkins feels differently about the situation, heaping praise on the veteran and referring to him as a superhuman.
He's one of the best outfielders to play the game. He's such a superhuman with his physical abilities
After many fans and analyst thought that Springer would last the rest of his contract in a Blue Jays uniform, the outfielder/DH has put together a dream season, batting .309, with 32 HRs and 84 RBIs.

Springer not the only player who has improved under new hitting coach
The Jays overhauled their hitting department this past offseason and it's shown. Besides Springer, players like Addison Barger, Alejandro KirkAlejandro Kirk, and Nathan Lukes have all seen massive upticks in their offensive game.
In addition to re-finding his stroke, Springer has also emerged as a leader in the clubhouse, especially when it comes to playing postseason baseball.
Prior to the start of the ALDS, there were reports that Springer had approached the rookies and those without playoff experience, giving them his advice and also to remain calm.
It's reasons like this that make Springer popular with both fans and players.
