There is a new reporter covering the Blue Jays

There will be a reporter covering the Toronto Blue Jays. Don't worry, Keegan Matheson isn't going anywhere. Neither is any of the SportsNet team. Instead, Mitch Bannon will be covering the Blue Jays full-time for The Athletic.
As Matheson notes, it's been seven years since the last full-time Jays writer joined the beat. It happened to be Matheson himself. As he also explains, the Blue Jays deserve to be covered like any other big market team and Bannon's coverage for the Athletic will allow that to happen.
Kaitlyn McGrath had been covering the Blue Jays for The Athletic on a part-time basis, but she left that role in December.
Bannon has a bachelor's degree in history and political science from McGill University and a Masters in Journalism from Syracuse. Before he joined the Athletic, he had written for Sports Illustrated, Odds Shark, and was a freelance reporter for MLB.com.
Now, he'll be joining the Athletic, which will bring the Blue Jays to thousands of subscribers both nationally and internationally.
Slowly, but surely the Blue Jays are becoming more respected and more covered outside of Toronto and Canada. And while reporters' knowledge of the team - and the country is often misunderstood or not fully-aware, the advancement of digital journalism combined with the Blue Jays broad and well-traveled fanbase, has helped enhance the Blue Jays reach within an around the league.
Having a full-time Blue Jays writer in the states can only be a good thing.
Most of the other teams are covered by various reporters from different media organizations. The Blue Jays are now no different.
Congratulations and welcome to the team Mitch!
