Toronto Blue Jays add one more to Spring Training invite list

Along with inviting right-handed pitcher Nate Garkow to Spring Training, the Blue Jays also extended the same courtesy to fellow pitcher Tanner Andrews.

The Toronto Blue Jays officially announced the moves on social media, along with the signing of left-hander Josh Fleming, a deal that was initially agreed upon earlier in the week.

The Blue Jays initially signed Andrews to a minor league contract back in November.

At 30 years old, Andrews has yet to reach the major leagues, although he has a decade of experience through all levels of the minor leagues.

He was originally signed by the Miami Marlins in 2019 but battled injuries for two years before catching on with the San Francisco Giants.

After three years in San Francisco, he spent the winter of 2024 playing ball in Mexico, before spending last year with the Wichita Wind Surge, the Double-A Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

Although he is unlikely to break camp with the team, upon signing with the Blue Jays, Andrews was assigned to the Buffalo Bisons and could be called upon later in the year should the pitching staff suffer a slate of injuries.

The additions of Andrews and Garkow, along with Fleming, bring the number of non-roster invitees to thirty. Pitchers and catchers report next week.
