The Toronto Blue Jays officially announced the acquisition of left-handed reliever Josh Fleming on Saturday.

The Toronto Blue Jays have officially added more pitching depth ahead of spring training.
On Saturday, the club announced the acquisition of left-handed reliever Josh Fleming, confirming a minor-league agreement that was initially reached last Wednesday.
The deal includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Right-handers Tanner Andrews and Nate Garkow also received non-roster invites as part of the announcement.
OFFICIAL: We’ve signed LHP Josh Fleming to a Minor League deal with an invite to Spring Training. Additionally, we’ve invited RHPs Tanner Andrews and Nate Garkow to Spring Training.

Fleming offers versatility in long relief or a potential hybrid starters role

Fleming, 29, spent the entire 2025 season pitching out of the bullpen at Triple-A with the Seattle Mariners organization.
Over 84.1 innings, he posted a 4.91 ERA while striking out 44 batters.
Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Fleming made his major-league debut in 2020.
His time with Tampa Bay produced mixed results, as he went 19–13 with a 4.88 ERA across 55 appearances, including 22 starts.
After leaving the Rays, Fleming appeared in 25 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2024.
His performance dipped the following year, leading to a full season in Triple-A with Seattle.
Despite recent struggles, Fleming profiles as a strike-thrower who relies on inducing ground balls and pitching to contact.
He’ll join a group of non-roster invitees in Blue Jays camp that includes veterans such as Connor Seabold, C.J. Stubbs, and Eloy Jiménez.
While Fleming faces long odds to crack the Opening Day roster, he could factor into the organization’s plans at Triple-A.
There, he offers versatility as a potential swingman, capable of handling long relief duties or serving in a hybrid starter role.
