With their season potentially on the line, the Blue Jays are turning to Mad Max.
The eight-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young Award winner, has logged more postseason innings and owns more World Series rings than any other player on the team.
Scherzer will get the ball either to tie the series, or with the Blue Jays season on the line
Max Scherzer will start Gm 4 per John Schneider. It will be Scherzer's first start of this post-season.
Starting Game 4 was decided ahead of the series, but the future Hall of Famer will get the ball for a crucial game for Toronto. Either to tie the series, or with a season in the line
The 41-year old right-hander posted a 9.00 ERA over his final six starts and 25 innings in the regular season, and Scherzer only completed six innings in one of those outings.
Scherzer ended up with a 5.19 ERA over 85 innings in 2025, as he missed most of the first half dealing with injuries.
Just prior to his rough final six starts, it seemed like Scherzer was locking into form with a string of five consecutive quality starts and a 2.25 ERA over 32 innings.
That time is here, now is his chance to show the baseball world that he's not done yet.
The Blue Jays trail the series 2-0. Game 3 is Wednesday with Shane Bieber starting for Toronto.
