Toronto Blue Jays prospect RJ Schreck flashes power for Israel in WBC matchup with Venezuela.
Toronto Blue Jays outfield prospect RJ Schreck showcased his power on the international stage while representing Israel in the World Baseball Classic.
Schreck has quickly emerged as one of the more intriguing position-player prospects in Toronto's farm system since joining the organization in the 2024 trade that sent veteran infielder Justin Turner to the Seattle Mariners.
What initially looked like a depth move at the deadline is increasingly appearing to be a strong return for the Blue Jays.
Selected by Seattle in the ninth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt, Schreck's rise through the minors has been impressive.
In a relatively short span, he went from being outside many Mariners prospect rankings to climbing into Toronto's top-10 prospects by the middle of the 2025 season.
The 25-year-old outfielder contributed one of Israel's few offensive highlights during their 11-3 loss to Venezuela at loanDepot Park in Miami.
Schreck finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, with his lone hit coming on a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning that trimmed Israel's deficit to 5-2.

Schreck emerging as an offensive outfield prospect to keep an eye on
Schreck's performance in the minors last season helped solidify his status as a rising prospect.
Splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A in 2025, he posted a .249/.395/.459 slash line with 18 home runs, 53 RBIs and 70 walks while producing a 143 wRC+.
Those numbers earned him recognition as one of MLB Pipeline's Blue Jays Prospects of the Year alongside pitching prospect Trey Yesavage.
Defensively, Schreck is generally viewed as an average outfielder, but his offensive profile - especially his production against right-handed pitching - makes him a player worth watching during the WBC.
Before leaving camp to join Israel, Schreck appeared in seven Grapefruit League games this spring, hitting .250 with a .583 OPS while collecting a double.
With Israel, Schreck is expected to play a regular role in the outfield alongside big league talent such as Harrison Bader and Zach Levenson.
The tournament provides him with another opportunity to prove himself against high-level competition.
Back in Toronto's organization, Schreck remains a prospect to monitor closely.
Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins recently mentioned him as one of the players the club was particularly excited to watch this spring, and the WBC stage only increases the attention surrounding him.
While Toronto's deep group of outfield options could delay Schreck's path to the majors, a strong showing once he returns from the WBC could help him climb the organizational depth chart and bring him one step closer to his MLB debut.
