The Toronto Blue Jays and left-handed pitcher Josh Fleming have agreed to a minor league contract.
The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a minor league deal with left-handed pitcher Josh Fleming, according to the club’s official transaction log.
Fleming returns to the organization after clearing waivers and electing free agency.
His most recent stint with the Blue Jays was brief. Fleming was called up for a single appearance, pitching three innings and allowing four earned runs in a 14–2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
While he managed to record nine outs, he required 77 pitches to do so, leaving him unavailable for several days afterward.
Toronto ultimately designated Fleming for assignment when the team recalled Patrick Corbin.
Fleming provides the Blue Jays with depth and valuable length out of the bullpen
Since then, Fleming has shown promise at the Triple-A level. In his first start back, he allowed just one earned run on three hits over 3.2 innings.
Fleming originally joined the Blue Jays during the offseason after spending the entire 2025 campaign with the Seattle Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate.
In that role, he posted a 4.91 ERA across 84.1 innings, recording 44 strikeouts.
He provides the Blue Jays with valuable length out of the bullpen—an asset the team currently needs, given that four of its eight starters are sidelined with injuries.
Over his career, Fleming has logged 257.2 innings across 81 appearances, including 25 starts. He holds a 4.86 ERA, along with a 14.4% strikeout rate, 7.6% walk rate, and an impressive 58.5% ground-ball rate.
