The Toronto Blue Jays are staring down a 2-0 deficit as they head to T-Mobile Park to play the Seattle Mariners in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday.

Toronto's bats showed signs of life in Game 2 following a lackluster offensive effort in Game 1, but Trey Yesavage and the Jays' pitching staff couldn't keep the Mariners at bay in a blowout 10-3 loss.
The Mariners will now host the Blue Jays for Game 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary), before things potentially shift back to Toronto for Game 6 and 7.

Here's what U.S. media are saying about Blue Jays Thanksgiving Monday defeat and their chances going forward

MLB Network broadcaster Jon Morosi brought up the 2023 ALCS in describing how quickly the tone of a series can change following a 2-0 lead.
«The 2023 ALCS began with the Rangers taking a 2-0 lead on the road. The Rangers lost the next 3 at home (to the Houston Astros). Texas recovered to win the following two, and the pennant, but this is useful context for those wishing to make any declarations in the 6th inning of Game 2,»
The Mariners beat the Blue Jays two games to one at the Rogers Centre during their first meeting of the regular season in April. The Jays would go on to sweep Seattle 3-0 in their next series meeting in May at T-Mobile Park.
Seattle Times staff reporter Ryan Divish notes that the Mariners have been wearing shirts branded with the phrase, «Job's Not Finished,» as they head back to Washington.
The blunt reminder that the Mariners are playing for something more than their predecessors of past playoffs is useful but not necessarily needed. Their singular focus won't fade with success, Divish writes.
The slogan appears to be a nod to the late Kobe Bryant, who famously quipped the phrase when the Los Angeles Lakers were up two games to start the 2009 NBA Finals. The Lakers would go on to win the title that year.

David Ortiz says days off for a hot team like the Blue Jays can be the 'most uncomfortable situation'

Boston Red Sox hall of famer David Ortiz spoke about the Blue Jays' three days off following their ALDS win over the New York Yankees, and said that may have contributed to their cold offence in the first two games of the ALCS.
«When I was active, and I was hot, I don't want no day off... That will mess me up, at least for a day or two,» Ortiz said on the MLB on Fox panel.

«I guess that's what they (the Blue Jays) are navigating now. They had those three days off. Were red-hot. All of a sudden, they're trying to find their swing, and that's the most uncomfortable situation.»
Both the Blue Jays and the Mariners know that teams who win the first two games of a best-of-seven playoff series go on to win that series 83.9 per cent of the time, which will make the next 3 games at T-Mobile Park that much more interesting.
