While some have been complimentary, others have been downright nasty.
On a recent podcast, former player and current
Seattle Mariners media personality
Bill Krueger seemingly went after Guerrero for no reason, calling him "not my favourite player" and a fat dog "with some fleas".
To say it was unnecessary is putting it mildly.
I think he's got a weight problem.... he's got a lot of fleas... I don't like him personally
In his first two seasons in the majors, Vlad Jr. was criticized for being overweight and out of shape, especially during the pandemic shortened 2020 season.
However, by 2021 and 2022, he had dropped some pounds while adding muscle.
While it could be debated whether or not his power numbers have declined, 23 home runs with 84 RBIs is still a well-above average season as Guerrero has turned himself into a more well-rounded and complete hitter.
Good morning here's a Seattle Mariners media guy talking about Vladdy, hope Vladdy takes it personal like he does the Yankees
He also hit .529 during the division series.
MLB Insider predicts Guerrero will win ALCS MVP, as Seattle fans support Blue Jays
To their credit, many Seattle fans have disavowed Krueger's comments and instead are openly supporting Guerrero, whom one MLB writer predicted would win ALCS MVP honours.
Hopefully Vlad, who has largely silenced haters and previous critics with a great division series, can ride his hot bat and lead Toronto to victory.
