Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander was a game-day scratch from Toronto's starting lineup for Monday night's ALCS Game 2 due to lower back tightness, pushing
Davis Schneider into left field and the lineup as the No. 8 hitter against the Mariners.
Santander had been penciled in at No. 7 in the lineup, but Ernie Clement was bumped up a spot from No. 8 to 7.
UPDATE: OF Anthony Santander was removed from today's starting lineup with lower back tightness.
The 30-year-old switch hitter played in three of the four games in the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, where he went 2-for-10 with three strikeouts and two runs batted in.
Santander went 1-for-3 with a single and a strikeout in Toronto's 3-1 Game 1 loss on Sunday night and has hit .231 (3-for-13) with no extra-base hits and two RBIs this postseason overall.
Santander played in just 54 games in his first season with the Blue Jays, hitting .175 with six home runs.
Schneider has made two starts in the postseason so far, and came off the bench in Sunday's loss.
He has seen more use against left-handed pitchers than righties, and the Mariners will have righty Logan Gilbert on the mound to start Monday's game.
In 11 plate appearances in the postseason, the 26-year-old Schneider has gone 2-for-8 with three walks, four strikeouts and three runs scored.
The Blue Jays will start rookie phenom Trey Yesavage on the mound in Game 2, looking to even up the series at a game apiece.
