Trey Yesavage pre-game presser: 'It's sad to see people close to me are being attacked for my performance'

In a pre-game presser ahead of Game 1 of the ALCS, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage said that his family is being attacked online.
Yesavage mentioned his parents, girlfriend and brother are being provoked and harassed for his on field performance. (By Yankees fans)
Trey Yesavage opens his press conference with a statement asking people to stop attacking his family
"Living in a world where there's so man different opinions and feelings which result in a lot of hate, it's sad to see that that people close to me are being attacked for my performances on the field. These people have done nothing to to warrant negativity for my action, whether that's my parents, my brothers, my girlfriend, family. It's just really sad, and I know I have the platform to address it, so I am. I hope that people can realize those individuals have nothing to do with what happens on the field or whatnot. If you have a problem, I'm a man, I can take whatever opinions anybody has about me or my life.»

It's really sad that Trey Yesavage had to do this. The man actually had to plead with the public (Yankees fans without actually saying it) during a pre-game presser to leave his family out of it.
What has happened to common sense and decency?
Support your team, whoever they are, but to attack one's friends and family because of a players performance for a team you may not like is absolutely deplorable.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider named Yesavage to start game 2 of the ALCS earlier today.
You can bet Yesavage will use this to fuel his performances going forward.
