Veteran starting pitcher Lance Lynn has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball. The two-time All-Star made the announcement on his wife's podcast Dymin' in the Rough .
A native of Indianapolis, Lynn was originally drafted by the
Seattle Mariners in the sixth of the 2005 draft. He chose not to sign and instead suited up for the Ole Miss Rebels.
The
St. Louis Cardinals then drafted him with the 39th overall pick in the 2008 draft and he would make his debut with the team in 2011. He received a World Series ring as part of that year's roster.
He became a full-time starter in 2012 and had great success, going 18-7 with a 3.78 ERA on route to his first All-Star appearance. After six seasons in St. Louis, Lynn bounced around for several years, spending time with the
Twins,
Yankees,
Rangers,
White Sox, and
Dodgers.
He found success again in Chicago with the south-siders, being elected to his second All-Star game in 2021. After being traded to Los Angeles midway through 2023, he returned to St. Louis in 2024 for one final year.

While Lynn did have some suitors over the winter, the money wasn't what he wanted it to be and he wasn't interested in signing with a team mid-season.
Lynn finishes his career with a 143-99 record, an 3.74 ERA, a 1.276 WHIP and 2015 strikeouts in 2006.1 innings pitched.
Congrats on a great career Lance. Enjoy your retirement.
