Atlanta Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos expected to go all in on Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette in offseason

After coming off an injury plagued 2024 season, Bo Bichette has had a career so far.
2025 has seen his overall results increase dramatically, earning him a much-improved .299/.340/.469 slash line and 124 wRC+ to go along with his 15 home runs and 74 RBIs.
Since July 6, Bichette has been one of the best hitters in the sport, slashing .404/.451/.644 with a 205 wRC+ (100 league average), ranking second among qualified major league hitters in AVG and OBP, trailing only rookie sensation Nick Kurtz in both categories, with his 24 RBIs tied for fifth-most.
No other player has recorded more hits than Bichette - a two-time AL hits leader from 2021-22 - who currently leads the majors with 141, 11 more than the next closest hitter (Manny Machado).
And with his 28th birthday not coming until the spring, there's good reason to believe he can keep this up for at least another half-decade.
Atlanta Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos is in the market for a premium shortstop in 2026
With Bichette having a career year, it's almost certain he will test free agency to maximize his worth. He is by far the best shortstop available in the 2026 free agency class.
The bad news for Bichette is that most of the teams with money to spend already have a long-term solution at shortstop.
If he wants to remain a shortstop, though, the two most logical landing spots are either returning to Toronto or going to Atlanta.
We all know that he has said that he wants to finish his career playing with long time teammate and friend Vladimir Guerrero Jr in Toronto.
However, the process dictates that he will test free agency and then hope that Rogers inc matches or at least comes close to the highest offer.
With that being said former Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos is looking for a premium shortstop for 2026 and is expected to go all in on Bichette.
The Braves have an excellent glove in Nick Allen, but they have a .538 OPS at shortstop for the year, yet to produce so much as a single home run.
Since losing Dansby Swanson in free agency three years ago, they've yet to produce much of anything at shortstop.
Anthopoulos bidding up his former boss Mark Shapiro in the offseason is a win-win situation for the former Blue Jays general manager.
If Anthopoulos can land Bichette in free agency he will have dramatically improved his team, if he doesn't his former employer will have to pay up.
