This is because of restrictions currently in place by the New York ball club.
Games three and four will move either Boston or New York, depending on the outcome of the Wild card series.
If it ends being against the Yankees, Canadian fans will be unable to buy tickets to attend games in the Bronx.
So just went to http://Yankees.com to buy tickets and apparently Red Sox fans are outlawed from the games. Hey
@MLB
this is kind of ridiculous.
Fans who try to buy on TicketMaster are greeted with a message saying that sales are " restricted to residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania."
For TicketMaster's purposes, residency is based on a credit card's billing address.
The policy will also be in place for the three game against Boston.
Red Sox fans have taken to X to voice their displeasure.
Policy meant to deter, fight scalpers; won't apply if Blue Jays play Boston
A representative from the Yankees has stated that the policy is meant to fight ticket scalping.
This is not the first time that Canadian sports fans have been shut out from buying tickets for games in the U.S.
In 2023, fans of the Toronto Maple were cut off for buying tickets for any Florida-held games in their playoff series against the Panthers.
The Red Sox have stated that they do not have this policy in place, so Canadian fans would be able to attend games at Fenway Park should Boston advance.
