Ernie Clement is your 2025 Major League leader in this category

After being a finalist for the award in 2024, Big Ern has put himself in an even better position to win some hardware this year.

That's because the lovable Blue Jays infielder leads all of Major League Baseball in a key defensive metric: Defensive Runs Saved.

Clement's 23 DRS aren't just tops amongst Jays player or even the best at his position. No, Clement's line of 23 DRS is number one in the entire league.

For comparison, in 2024 Clement had 16 DRS, with 10 coming at third base and six at short stop.

Even after his banner, breakout season in 2024, Clement has gotten better. Not only does he have 50% more DRS, but he's also expanded his range, appearing at all four infield positions, including a few games first base.

While his best position - and most natural - is third base, he also saw significant time at 2nd base and shortstop this season, particularly after Bo Bichette went down with an injury. He would probably also play the outfield if asked.

The Buffalo native is a beloved character in the Blue Jays' clubhouse and has quietly become one of the team's most valuable contributors.

Now, it's time he was rewarded for his efforts.
