After a career cut short by injury, Jesse Litsch has found new life as coach.
Macon Bacon team president Brandon Raphael released a statement, acknowledging Litsch' hiring.
His background as a Major Leaguer, combined with his dedication to mentoring players and giving back to the community, makes him a perfect fit for our organization. We believe Jesse will bring his drive and winning spirit to Macon, helping us elevate our performance on the field and more importantly give these student-athletes a great experience during their time here in Middle Georgia.
This isn't Litsch' first foray into coaching. Shortly after his retirement as a player, Litsch worked at a player development centre in China and was also the pitching coach for the Philippines National Baseball Team and has also worked as the pitching coach for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League.
The Macon Bacon are excited to announce that Jesse Litsch will be joining us as the new Head Coach!
A promising career cut short by shoulder injuries, infections.
At one point in his career, Litsch was the number two pitcher in the Blue Jays rotation, behind the great
Roy Halladay He had a career high 13 wins in 2008.
However, after several injury-plagued seasons, including a serious shoulder injury and subsequent infection in 2012, his career was cut short and ultimately retired in 2014 at the age of 29.
For his part, Litsch is excited for the new opportunity.
This team has an incredible fan base and a strong presence in the community, and I look forward to building on that both on and off the field
