The Toronto Blue Jays defeated Baltimore Orioles 7-6, in an extra-inning comeback victory in Sunday afternoon action at Camden Years. It was their third extra inning game in four days. Toronto moves to 9-7 on the season.
Jose Berrios started for the Blue Jays while Cade Povich got the ball for the Orioles.
Home runs continue to plague Berrios, as he gave up a solo home run to Jays killers Ryan Mountcastle and Tyler O'Neill. The Orioles have more home runs against the Jays than against all other teams combined.
After allowing a run to score on a wild pitch in the first inning, the Blue Jays got a home run from Alejandro Kirk to tie the game at one. The teams exchanged runs again with the Mountcastle home run and three straight singles by the Blue Jays knotting the score at two.
The Orioles took the lead in the third and O'Neill homered in the fourth, before an Ernie Clement double and a Myles Straw single put the Blue Jays to within one.
The wheels came off in the sixth as consecutive errors by Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero allowed two more runs to score, pushing the Orioles lead to three.
George Springer left the game midway through as he suffered left wrist discomfort during his at bat in the fifth. Will Wagner entered the game as DH.
The Blue Jays tied things up in the eighth thanks to back-to-back doubles by Andres Gimenez and Kirk, followed by sac bunt and an RBI groundout to come to within one. Bichette then hit an RBI single to tie the game.
After running into an out in the ninth, Nathan Lukes made a game-saving catch to send the game in to extras. With two on and one out in the tenth, Straw hit an infield dribbler to bring home the winning hun. Jeff Hoffman got the final six outs for the win.
The Blue Jays return home to begin a three game series against Atlanta. Easton Lucas will be opposed by Grant Holmes. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07PM ET.
