The Kansas City Royals have signed former Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Aaron Sanchez.

Well it didn't take long for a team to sign Aaron Sanchez following a report yesterday from MLB insider Francys Romero that multiple teams were interested in his services.
Per a report from FanSided's Robert Murray, the Kansas City Royals and right-hander Aaron Sanchez are in agreement on a minor league contract.
Sources: Right-hander Aaron Sanchez and the Kansas City Royals are in agreement on a minor-league contract that includes an invite to spring training.
Sanchez, a former All-Star with the Blue Jays, will attend major spring training as a non-roster invite.
According to Murray, the Boras Corporation client would earn $1.35 million if he cracks the Opening Day roster, with additional incentives available.
The contract also includes opt-out clauses on April 15 and May 15.

Sanchez hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2022

The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2022 and was absent from affiliated baseball entirely in 2025.
However, Sanchez committed to a comeback attempt this offseason and did enough to catch the attention of big league clubs during a strong showing in the Dominican Winter League.
In eight starts, Sanchez logged 46 1/3 innings while posting an impressive 1.55 ERA.
While his 19.1% strikeout rate was modest, he paired it with excellent control-walking just 5% of opposing hitters.
Aaron Sanchez won the Dominican Winer League Cy Young Award. In 46 1/3 innings, he posted a 1.55 ERA with 34 strikeouts and 9 walks. Hasn't pitched in MLB since 2022. #Royals
That profile aligns with his career tendencies, as Sanchez has long relied more on inducing ground balls than racking up strikeouts (career 52.7% ground-ball rate).
Once one of baseball's top prospects and the 34th overall pick in the draft, Sanchez appeared to be on the verge of stardom in 2016.
That season, he led the American League with a 3.00 ERA across 192 innings, finished seventh in Cy Young voting, and earned the lone All-Star selection of his career.
Unfortunately, injuries have repeatedly stalled his progress since then. Persistent blister issues, along with a lat strain, biceps strain, and a torn capsule in his right shoulder, have limited his availability and effectiveness.
Since his breakout 2016 campaign, Sanchez has thrown just 367 2/3 innings in the majors, posting a 5.29 ERA with a 17.5% strikeout rate, 10.6% walk rate, and a 49% ground-ball rate while spending time with five different major league organizations.
