The last few weeks have been the most difficult of Bo Bichette's career.
The career Blue Jay has battled through injuries and slumps plenty of times before, but he's never felt quite this helpless.
While the Blue Jays dominated the Yankees to win their first ALDS in a decade, one of their top players was relegated to the bench.
Bo Bichette has progressed from light jogging to running the bases
As seen in the video below, Bichette is actually running the bases now, which Blue Jays manager John Schneider previously said is what would be required to see the 27-year old shortstop to make a postseason return.
This is a very good sign of things to come for Bichette, who if does return for the ALCS will most likely share designated hitter duties or come up off the bench in pinch hit situations.
Bichette posted a healthy 134 wRC+, his best mark since his brief 46-game stint as a rookie in 2019. Bichette's .311 batting average ranked second in the league behind only Aaron Judge.
The shortstop finished the regular season with 628 plate appearances, his most since 2022.
While the power and speed tailed off, Bichette showed the best plate discipline of his career in 2025.
He cut his strikeout rate to 14.5%, the first time he'd been below 19% in the big leagues. Bichette's 6.4% walk rate, while still not great, was his best mark since 2019.
Toronto's offense hasn't felt the loss of Bichette so far in the postseason, piling up tons of runs in four games against the Yankees in the division series.
