MLB Insider says Brewers will pry Chris Bassitt away from Blue Jays

We're one month into the 2025 Major League Baseball season and those Chris Bassitt rumours just won't go away. Now, MLB Network host Greg Amsinger has added fuel to the fire by saying that the Milwaukee Brewers will be the team to swoop in and make a deal for Bassitt's services.
Given the start to their season, Amsinger believes that the
Blue Jays will once again be sellers at the trade deadline.
I don't think the Blue Jays are going to the World Series. I don't see them as a playoff team.» - Greg Amsinger
In a way, what Amsinger says makes sense. Bassit is in the last year of his contract and has been the best starter for the Blue Jays early on in the season. They could also get quite a haul for him.
Milwaukee is also in the market for another arm and has a chance to win the National League Central again this year.
However, even with signings of
Spencer Turnbull and
José Urena, Toronto is relatively thin on pitching depth and might be hesitant to deal one of their top arms.
Chris Bassitt has gotta go his ERA is sparkling. You could get a haul for this right-hander. He's been around the league for a while, and he's kind of funky in terms of his mechanics.»
The Brewers aren't the only team connected to Bassitt however, Recent articles indicate that both the
Red Sox and
Cubs might be players for the right-hander's services.
It should be stressed that nothing is imminent. If the Blue Jays put together a winning season, that will render the rumours moot.
If not, Bassitt could be on his way out.
