The Blue Jays were clearly frustrated in their 11-2 loss against the New York Yankees in the first game of their doubleheader on Sunday. Nowhere was this more apparent then when Kevin Gausman got ejected after being pulled in the third inning. Manager John Schneider followed his starter a few innings later.

Both were ostensibly ejected for arguing balls and strikes. Gausman walked five in the third inning and felt like he was getting squeezed by home plate umpire Chris Conroy. Later, during an at-bat by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a low first-pitch strike prompted Schneider to yell at Conroy from the Blue Jays dugout.
While often times, pitchers who complain about the strike zone have a legitimate complaint, an analysis by YouTube Channel CloseCall Sports shows that not only was did Conroy make the correct, but his bias was actually +2 in favour of the Blue Jays.

All this means that the ejections likely came as a result of frustration. For Gausman, it was his own performance after cruising through the first two innings, for Schneider it was the culmination of several bad games in a row, exacerbated by the Blue Jays not getting close calls at the plate.
The ejections weren't particular egregious and neither Gausman nor Schneider are likely to be suspended for their actions. With an off-day Monday, both can take a breather and get refreshed and hopefully the team can use the opportunity to relax and get back to basics in an effort to get back over the .500. mark.
For now, they'll have to realize that, in this case, the umpire was right.
