FCL Blue Jays get in as a wildcard and rode the momentum to a first time championship

The Blue Jays snuck into the wild-card spot and used that momentum en route to a sweep of the Championship Series.
After winning Game 1, 2-1, they capped off the title run at Lee Health Sports Complex to give the Toronto's affiliate its first title.
The FCL Twins led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth on Sunday, but Aldo Gaxiola hit a game-tying double before Yorman Licourt cashed him in for the 2-1 lead.
Franley Urena struck out the side in order in the top of the ninth for the 2-1 victory.
On Monday, Dylan Leach hit a bases-clearing double to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but the FCL Twins answered back with three runs of their own in the bottom half.
Gaxiola hit another clutch hit on Monday, this time a two-run single to give the FCL Jays a 5-3 lead in the top of the seventh.
In the top of the eighth, Raimundo De Los Santos hit a single to make it 6-3, followed by David Beckles taking a walk with the bases loaded to make it 7-3.
The FCL Twins threatened in the bottom of the ninth, even scoring two runs, but it wasn't enough.

«Championships are special, they are extra special when it is the first one for the organization," Blue Jays manager John Tamargo Jr. said after the game. «This group of guys never quits, they keep going until the last out is made.»

On the final day of the regular season, the Jays' job was simple. If they won, they were in the playoffs.
They won for the eighth time in 10 games to finish with a 36-23 record and clinch the playoff berth.
After joining the circuit in 1981, the Blue Jays had only reached the league Finals once previously in 2015.
Known as the Sarasota Rookie League in 1964, the circuit became the Florida Rookie League in 1965 before transforming into the Gulf Coast League from 1966-2020 and then the Florida Complex League after that.
