Toronto will play the winner of the ALDS between the
Detroit Tigers and
Seattle Mariners. Game 5, the final game of the series, goes Friday night at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
The Blue Jays match up well against both teams, having won the season series against Detroit 4-3, while they took four of six from Seattle. However, this isn't the regular season.
In the seven games against Detroit, Toronto scored 35 runs and hit for a .282 average, both lower than the rampage they went on in the ALDS. While Detroit does have
Tarik Skubal, the Tigers have struggled to score runs, relying on timely hits to win games after they saw their 15 game lead in the AL Central collapse, ultimately coming in 2nd place to the

While the Jays also own the season series against the Mariners, they last played each other in May, before the Mariners significantly upgraded their roster and went on a tear to claim the AL West.
The M's also boast the better rotation and have arguably the best power hitter in all of baseball in
Cal Raleigh, in addition to players like
Randy Arozarena and face of the franchise
Julio Rodriguez. Seattle's offence would put a lot more pressure on Toronto's rotation.
Blue Jays might have easier time against Detroit
While it would be quite a sight to see the legions of west coast Blue Jays fans flock to T-Mobile Park in the middle of the playoffs, Blue Jays nation and Canada should hope for a Tigers victory.
With the way Toronto has been hitting, Detroit simply may not have the firepower to keep up. While the Jays could defeat Seattle as well, their pitching would be worn down a lot quicker, making a potential trip to the World Series that much more difficult.
Game one of the ALCS is on Sunday at the Rogers Centre.
