Bowden Francis will throw one inning of live batting practice on Saturday at the Blue Jays complex in Dunedin, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling.
Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis could become a bulk option down the road in the postseason
He's progressed well through his program and could become an option down the road, per Zwelling.
Bowden Francis (shoulder) is throwing one inning of live BP on Saturday at Blue Jays complex in Dunedin. Francis has been progressing well through his throwing program and if he continues on same track could be a bulk option for Blue Jays in the postseason,
The 29-year-old was expected to hold a key rotation spot this season after tossing a sparkling 1.53 ERA over the final two months of the 2024 season.
But in 14 starts in 2025, Francis owns a 6.05 ERA while allowing 19 home runs.
Meanwhile, fellow righty Nick Sandlin, who's on the 60-day injured list and hasn't pitched since July 7 due to right elbow inflammation, threw a bullpen session on Tuesday, Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling reported on Saturday.
Zwelling added Sandlin's bullpen was described as "OK," and that he'll throw another session in the coming days as he hopes to rejoin the club's fight into October.
The right-hander's throwing program has been shut down twice during his rehab after receiving injections to reduce inflammation.
