The best art is often born out of sadness, that's why Toronto Blue Jays fan and Canadian musician Dallas Green is writing a song about the clubs heartbreaking end to an amazing season.
Nobody knows this better than Green. The lead singer of hardcore band Alexisonfire who also performs as a solo singer-songwriter under the City and Colour moniker has been a massive Blue Jays fan for most of his life.
"Right now, I'm in the basement trying to write a song because I'm so upset about the Jays losing. It's going to help me get through it a little bit, and maybe someday somebody will hear what I'm working on.»
And like the rest of the country, he will be thinking about that lodged ball.
I cannot believe that I watched the lodged ball, because I know now, for the rest of my life, I'm going to be talking to Jays fans about a lodged ball,
But the 2025 version of the Toronto Blue Jays also reminded Green of something else... him and his Alexisonfire bandmates.
Blue Jays remind Green of Alexis on Fire relationship
The Blue Jays are known around the league for their positive clubhouse culture and sense of brotherly love. It's something that Green sees parallels in his relationship with his bandmates.
I spent my whole life on the road with a group of people who are my chosen family, and a lot of the days on the road are really tough. You have to lean on each other to get through those days. I think that this was my favourite team I've ever rooted for in Toronto sports.
While there is no new song about the Blue Jays just yet, don't be surprised if one appears on the next City and Colour album.
