Both Trey Yesavage and Logan Gilbert represent the apex of pitching development for their respective franchises.

The two stars, who Game 2 of the ALCS, are set to battle again tonight as the Toronto Blue Jays take on the Seattle Mariners in a Game 6 that is a must-win for Canada's team.
The two pitchers have a lot in common. Both were first round draft picks. In Gibert's case, he was selected 14th in the 2018 draft, while Yesavage was the 20th overall pick just last year.
Yesavage isn't taking anything for granted in what has been a whirlwind rookie season for the 22-year old.
Insightful answer from Trey Yesavage, a rookie, on what motivates him this time of year.

He's right. These runs don't arrive often. No matter what happens tomorrow, Blue Jays haven't been this close to a World Series since 1993:
Nothing about Trey Yesavage's debut professional season has been «normal."

However, a summer in which he checked every box the organization set for him has the rookie poised to take the mound in the Blue Jays' most important game of the season.
Both received multimillion dollar signing bonuses.
While Gilbert is already in his fifth major league season, having made his debut in 2021, Yesavage has just five major league starts under his belt, regular and postseason included, after starting the year in Single-A.
Gilbert and Yesavage are the epitomes of superior development and are both the present and future of their team's pitching rotations.
While Gilbert is already considered the ace of the staff, Yesavage, who rocketed through three levels of the minors before making his debut in September, is considered to be Toronto's ace of the future and could open 2026 as the number two or three starter.

Blue Jays need Yesavage to pitch like he did in the ALDS

While Gilbert won the first matchup between the two, Yesavage and the Blue Jays remain confident. If the Ice Trey can pitch like he did in Game 2 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees and regain control of his devastating splitter, then Toronto will be in a great position to force a game 7.
His leash will be short though.
