Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer exited Toronto's loss in Game 5 of the ALCS after getting hit on his right kneecap by a 95-mph sinker from Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bryan Woo.

Springer, clearly in immense pain, laid on the ground for a few minutes as the Blue Jays trainer and manager John Schneider emerged from the dugout.
With Schneider and the trainer by his side, Springer limped his way up the first base line in an apparent attempt to remain in the game before ultimately exiting the contest, where he was helped down the dugout steps into the clubhouse.
George Springer is no stranger to jeers from the crowd, but the raucous ovation he received Friday night may have crossed a line.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider scolded Mariners fans for cheering George Springer's knee injury

John Schneider was not pleased with the reaction from Mariners fans after George Springer's knee injury.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider blasted Mariners fans for booing Springer after being injured when a pitch hit his knee in the club's 6-2 loss in Game 5 of the ALCS at T-Mobile Park.
«I know this is an awesome atmosphere to play in, and it's really, really cool to play here, and I think the fans that were booing him should take a look in the mirror and understand what kind of player he is,» Schneider said after his team fell in a 3-2 series hole.

«And I'll stop there, because when a guy gets hit in the knee and is in obvious pain and have you 40,000 people cheering, not the right thing to do.»

Now in his 12th big-league campaign, Springer hit a career-high .309 in the regular season with 32 home runs, his most since he received down-ballot MVP votes with the Houston Astros in 2019.
His success has carried into this postseason, with Springer supplying three home runs and six RBIs through nine games.
According to the FS1 telecast, the impact of the baseball off Springer's knee was hard enough that it registered on Statcast as a 55 mph batted ball.
This summer, Springer missed 16 games after he was struck in the helmet by a 96 mph pitch during a game in Baltimore.
